see, school can be fun
It's hard to get kids to come to school on half-days. I'll be honest; as a teacher, it's hard for me to see the point myself. As motivation to come on in on our most recent half-day, the faculty got together & offered several different activities in which students could participate. My friend & co-worker, Elisa, and I agreed to sponser a knitting class. We taught them to cast on & to knit. Maybe we'll get to purl on our next half-day! I think that the day was a huge success. It gave us a chance to just "hang out" with our kids, and they really seemed to enjoy learning something new--something that won't show up on the almighty T-CAP tests.
